At the heart of the Leitz Phone 1 lies the globally renowned Leica camera experience, empowering users to seamlessly integrate the essentials of photography into their daily lives. The phone pays homage to our founder and honours Ernst Leitz (II), produced exclusively for the Japanese market in partnership with Sharp.

As a member of the digital design team, my objective has been to grasp the essence of the Leica camera brand and translate it into straightforward interactions within the Android UX/UI framework ingrained in its operating system. The outcome is an instinctive digital journey that transcends cultural boundaries, functioning seamlessly across all interfaces and catering to users' needs.

The project involved a detailed process of customising Android UI components to seamlessly incorporate the Leica brand design language into the digital interface of the Leitz Phone 1. This customisation was aimed at translating the renowned Leica camera experience into the smartphone's digital framework. The adaptation of the Android UI components was carefully executed to ensure a cohesive integration with the iconic Leica design, creating a distinctive and user-friendly experience.

Inspired by the simplicity and precision associated with Leica cameras, the Leitz Phone 1's user interface system reflects a commitment to user-centric design, allowing users to focus on the essentials of photography effortlessly. The intuitive and user-friendly interface of the Leitz Phone 1 aligns with Leica's timeless principles, emphasising ease of operation and delivering exceptional photographic experiences.
